How to Check Your PC Specifications on Windows 10

You may want to check the specifications of your Windows 10 PC for various reasons. You may want to know if it will run a certain game or application. It maybe that you want a performance upgrade and want to know what you currently have, or maybe you want to upgrade to Windows 11. Whatever the reason this guide will show you where to get those specs on your Windows 10 PC.

Basic System Specifications in the About Section

In the About section of Windows Settings you can see hardware information about your processor, how much RAM your system has and if your system is 64 bit or not. You can also get software information like your Windows edition and version. The first method shows how to quickly access these specs using Search in Windows.

To access the About section:

Click Start > Type About > Click on About your PC.

To access the About section via Settings step by step:

1. Click the Start button and click Settings (gear icon). Alternatively use shortcut keys Windows Key + I to open settings.

2. Click on System.

3. Click About (last option).

Detailed System Specifications using System Information

In the System Information app you can get more details on your PCs specifications such as BIOS information and driver location and version.

To access the System Information app:

Click Start > Type System Information > Click on System Information from the results.

Step by step guide on how to locate the System Information app in the Start menu:

1. Click the Start button or press the Windows key on your keyboard.

2. Scroll down to Windows Administrative Tools and expand the folder.

3. Click on System Information.

4. The System Information window can be seen below showing software and hardware information about your PC.

Tip: Alternatively, use the Run App to open System Information

Click Start > Type run > Click on the Run App > Type msinfo32.exe > Hit Enter

Video and Sound Specifications with DirectX Diagnostic Tool

Get detailed information on your video and sound devices by using the DirextX Diagnostic Tool or DxDiag.

To open DxDiag:
Click Start > Type dxdiag > Click on dxdiag from the results.

When DxDiag is opened the first tab, System gives general information about your PC. Information on your PCs processor, memory and Operating System is shown here.

The second and third tabs, Display 1 and Display 2 displays information about your graphics card.
