How To Disable your Touchpad

While the touchpad provides a convenient means of using the pointer on your laptop, it isn’t for everyone. Hence, you may want to disable the touch pad while using a mouse to avoid unintentional behaviors from accidentally contacting the touchpad. This article describes how to disable the touchpad on your laptop. You can even choose to disable the touchpad only when a mouse is connected in Windows 10 and 11. The quickest method for doing this is to:

Click the Windows Key > Type Touchpad > Click Touchpad Settings from the results > Toggle Touchpad to Off Position

Disable your Touchpad in Windows 10

1. Click the Windows Start button, then click Settings.

2. Click Devices.

3. Click Touchpad on the left, then click the Touchpad Toggle switch so it is in the Off position.

4. Alternatively you can uncheck the Leave touchpad on when mouse is connected

Disable your Touchpad in Windows 11

1. Click the Windows Start button then click Settings

2. Click Bluetooth & Devices.

3. Select Touchpad.

4. Click the Touchpad Toggle switch to the Off position. Alternatively, click the dropdown arrow and uncheck the Leave touchpad on when mouse is connected so the touchpad is automatically disabled when you’re using the mouse.
